BIOGRAPHY
Davita Galloway is a Charlotte-based multidisciplinary artist, creative entrepreneur, and cultural curator whose work explores identity, joy, resilience, and community connection. Through mixed media, installation, design, and storytelling, she creates bold and thoughtful experiences that celebrate culture while inviting reflection and dialogue.
Known for blending visual artistry with meaningful social impact, Davita’s practice extends beyond the studio into the community. She is the founder of DUPP&SWAT, a beloved creative hub that has served as a platform for artists, entrepreneurs, and cultural experiences for more than a decade, and Executive Director of CrownKeepers, a nonprofit dedicated to uplifting artists and strengthening community through creativity.
Her work has been featured in exhibitions, public art initiatives, collaborative installations, and community-centered programming throughout the region. Whether creating a single work of art or building spaces for others to thrive, Davita’s mission remains rooted in empowering people, honoring stories, and making art accessible, joyful, and transformative.

Artist Statement
Shared Stories, Shared Futures reflects the role literacy plays in building stronger communities. Reading allows us to access information, understand one another, and participate more fully in civic life.
Through a layered collage of children, adults, illustrations, and photography, the work reflects reading as both a personal journey and a shared communal act. The diverse readers throughout the composition symbolize the importance of equitable access to knowledge and education. Anchored by an open book, the work reminds us that literacy is foundational to progress, opportunity, and voice.
When more people can read, learn, and engage, entire communities thrive.
