Sharon Dowell

Sharon Dowell is a painter with a focus on murals, public art and art consulting. Her work lives at the intersection of storytelling and place-making, designed to reflect the spirit of a space and the people who shape it. Every mural or program is rooted in research, client input, and a whole lot of heart. With over 55 mural and public art projects and over 75 clients, her commissions include large scale mural and transit projects nationwide. She received an MAAA from Winthrop University and a BFA from UNCC. Sharon has served as a UNCC Adjunct Professor and Rowe Galleries Coordinator and as Director for Center of the Earth Gallery. A 2014 TedX Charlotte speaker, she regularly lectures, curates and art consults, most recently creating The Contemporaries program for the McColl Center for Visual Art. and travels internationally for artist residencies. She has received multiple arts grants and her work is in corporate collections nationwide.
